My advice always put money in savings even if you are tight. Make sure you have something for an emergency
My best advice is never get a credit card. It will keep you from impulse buying. If you get one for emergencies, put it in a locked safe so it is “out of sight and out of mind”. You won’t be inclined to use it.
I haven’t used a credit card in years. It is a whole different feeling when you see it hit the checking account.
Challenge yourself at least one month a year to do a “no spend month”, where you buy only the necessities: milk, fresh vegetables (you might not even have to do that in the summer if you have a garden). It makes you realize just how often you really don’t need to buy stuff.
My advice that I give to everyone is to CLIP COUPONS
my best piece of advice is to always use coupons when producs are already on sale
Awesome contest! Thanks a ton! Janna Johnson jannajanna@hotmail.com
My money saving tip is to use coupons on things you buy.
austma7@aol.com
I’m growing a lot more veggies this summer (in addition to all my fruit trees) and will be drying and canning to help my grocery budget (and health) the rest of the year. I’ve also gotten a variety of fruits from generous folks who share on Free Cycler (I share my lemons and limes there)
Do people just give produce for free or are these items that they are swapping?
I’m a GFC follower (sksweeps)
I make my own laundry soap. One batch costs about $3 and lasts about 3 months…can’t beat that! I also use homemade dryer balls which last 6-7 months and are only $4 to make
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com
What is a dryer ball? Please do tell…
Frugal tip: Double up on savings — not only buy products on sale, but use a coupon, too.
Why throw away your money on credit card interest? Always pay your credit card bill in full each month. Never purchase something with your credit card that you can’t pay for when the statement arrives.
Money saving tip: I read a study a few years ago that suggested that the more often you go to the store, the more you spend–even if you are using coupons (I am sure this had to do with average coupon use and not the “extreme” version.)The conclusion was that it was best to do larger shopping, less frequently.
I agree. I think there is a facebook page that says something like “I went to Target for shampoo and came out with $80 worth of stuff”. I think the more we see, the more we want or think we need.

much healthier, too
use coupons
Live simply. I mean really simply. A lot of my friends buy things on time, like cars and houses. I live in a very small, simple house. And it is paid for. They make huge monthly mortgage car payments.
Don’t ever buy anything on time. There is nothing worth making payments and paying interest on – with the possible exception of a house within your means. I mean nothing.
Spend less than you make. There is an old saying about “making dimes and spending dollars.’ Try to do just the opposite…

My single best piece of money advice is to be honest with yourself about your financial situation. It’s the only way to achieve your goals! Thank you for the giveaway!
My best piece of financial advice is to pay off all your credit cards each month so you never carry a balance.
Day to day advice – make a shopping list and menu, stick to them as much as possible and go to the store as little as possible. That tends to save money overall.
Longer term – avoid car leases if possible, buy used and save cash, pay off your debts in an orderly fashion (Dave Ramsey’s advice works as long as you follow it), and try not to take out really expensive student loans.

Always look for coupons online before shopping or dining out. You’d be amazed at what you could find!

best piece of financial advice is to have money taken out of your paycheck directly deposited to your savings
My best financial advice is to use the envelope system. Separate your spending into envelopes marked for each- groceries, fun money, gas, etc. Once each is gone, it’s gone. It’s a simple way to see where money is going each payday and to make adjustments where needed and stay within the total budget.

My best financial advice is to never spend what you don’t have. The only exception to this is when purchasing a house; otherwise, if you don’t have the money in the bank, don’t buy it!

Always comparison shop online before you buy.
Some stores (like Target) let you use 2 coupons for 1 item — the store coupon and the manufacturer’s coupon.
I never knew this. Do they have to be different coupons?

Make a goal and stick to it! Is Disneyworld a dream vacation? Well save money towards it, but for every dollar that goes into the vacation jar, put a dollar in your savings account.
Pay with cash rather than with a credit card if possible.
My best piece of financial advice is get rid of everything in your house that you don’t need or love. Have a huge garage sale and make money from it. Look at every item objectively and sell it if you don’t love it or need it. You’d be amazed at how much stuff in your house can be sold! I’ve been through mine so many times and am getting ready to have another garage sale
I am now a member of this site
I saw the throw pillows to redecorate my house. I save a ton of money that way.
My best piece of advice is to recycle. I get money for taking our cans to the recycling center… and help the earth at the same time!
My best tip is to put almost all my day-to-day purchases on one credit card (that I pay off entirely monthly)–the cash back on stuff I’d buy anyway is great to earn!
Thanks for the chance to win!

Always wait at least a week before you buy something you think you just have to have. You’ll be amazed at how many things you realize you don’t need and don’t really want as much as you thought you did.
Best piece of financial advice is to spend less than you earn… simple enough. But otherwise, use a credit card for all purchases so you’re earning cash back and pay it ALL off each month. Works for us!

My frugal advice is: go shopping in your own house instead of at a store, see if you can move furniture around instead of buying something new, repurpose something you already have, or better yet: realize you probably really don’t need something, you WANT it.

My best frugal advice: keep a gift box for Christmas/birthday presents. Buy early and on sale, and you’ll save some money while still getting neat gifts for all your loved ones.
(Just be sure to respect the limit; you can go overboard on your budget if you just keep piling on the presents!)

my tip is to use the envelope system, at least for the “fun” things. that means you have one envelope of money for “eating out” and one for “entertainment” perhaps and you can put a certain amount each week or so and then you can ONLY use that much if you want to do something.
I have never enveloped…I think because I am addicted to spreadsheets.
Leave all your cards at home and only carry cash with you. It will help you be aware of what you spend and will likely spend less.

To consider whether I really need something, and if no, how much I really want it.
Online, I tend to put things in the shopping cart and then close the window and think about it for a day or two.
My financial advice is I never spend single dollars or change and keep it at home until my bucket gets full!
Definitely try to stick to a grocery list, maybe allowing one impulse item or indulge only when one of your list items was on sale.
My best advice would just be to save, save, save.
My best advice: Deduct your credit card charges from your checkbook as you go, and pay off the balance in full EVERY MONTH.

Don’t nickel and dime your money. Instead of buying a 20oz drink everytime you leave your house, buy in bulk and keep at home. You have no idea how much money you can save by doing this.

I like to write down everything I buy… makes you really think when purchasing something!
We’ve been working hard on learning to use cash for regular purchases – it’s been a challenge (and we’re not great at it yet!) but it helps!

To prevent impulse buying, We have a 24 hr freeze on the item. during that time I or my hubby researches for quality, price and then do we need this now ? Is it a good price? or can we save for it for later? It is not rocket science but it helps us.

My best piece of financial advice (by way of money saving tip) is to keep the money saved with coupons aside after each shopping trip. When you have $50 or $100 saved (or any amount!) go on a stock-up spree.
It’s free groceries bought from money you’ve already saved!

Allow yourself to eatlunch out one day a week, and brown bag the rest. You won’t feel deprived because you have your one day to look forward too.
Always use and search for coupons and free shipping codes to save money.

I believe everyone should have at least 6 months worth of mortgage or rent money saved away in case your lose your job or for an emergency. I also believe that if your company offers a 401K plan, you should contribute (especially if your employer matches or contributes each year as well). Only spend what you can afford (do not go over your means). Try and avoid credit cards unless you have to and if you do use your credit card, make sure its an amount you can pay off the next month in full so you do not pay interest.
