You need to be an “Anthro Member”. Getting their catalogs and emails doesn’t cut it. You need a courtesy card and not just an online account. Do you know how I know this? I did not get my birthday discount in the mail!
I called and complained (betcha you aren’t surprised by this). I explained that I had an “account” online and I didn’t know why I didn’t receive my discount. Anthropologie explained to me that even though I had an account online, I was not an “Anthro Member”. However, my online account could be linked to the courtesy card. Okay, so what good was that going to do me now….my birthday is in March? I figured I would have to wait another 365 days to get a discount…
The very nice customer service provider told me that once I received my Anthropologie courtesy card in the mail, I could call them and I could obtain my discount. Yeah, I have wanted the Natalie bathing suit for months. It is the most charming and modest bathing suit that I have seen in a very long time!

FYI – Cost of the bathing suit $148 — less my future discount plus tax, $132.72…prorated amount $22.12! (Check out my next post on why it is going to cost me $22.12!)
Update – Bathing suit arrived 3/26. I love it. All the reviews on Anthropologie.com were correct. It fits and I am satisfied with my purchase.

I’ve heard (from the lips of the manager at my local store) that only randomly selected anthro card holders get the birthday discount, and that you can only use it in store, not online (it says that right on the coup). How did you use the card online?
You have to call Anthropologie and get the Anthro Card linked to your online account. There is nothing on the website that remotely mentions this. I had to have a lengthy conversation with customer service. Once I got the card, in the month of my birthday, Anthro agreed to let me have the discount. They can give you the discount. You might have to fight for it…and probably place the order over the phone.

Just wanted to know (I’m in the same situation you were in) my bday just passed on the 9th and after seeing your post I signed up at MyAnthro. How long did it take for you to get the card? It’s cutting it close for me but I want to buy A LOT of dining items and the discount would be spiffy.

I think I got my card within the week. I also made my purchase over the telephone to ensure I got the discount.

I actually just got my card along with the Bday discount card the other day. Luckily, the stuff I want to buy is available in my local shop so I don’t have to try and finagle a phone rep to give me the online discount
